Skin Conditions - Wrinkle

Description

As skin ages the collagen and elastin fibers that keep the skin firm begin to weaken. At the same time, gravity is also at work, pulling at the skin and causing it to sag. The degree to which the skin becomes wrinkled depends largely on cumulative sun exposure, cigarette smoking and genetics.

Appearance

Wrinkles are characterized by prominent lines that form in the skin. The skin can appear loose, lax, thin, sagging and less plump and smooth.

Prevention of wrinkles also includes avoiding cigarette smoke.
